Celebrating achievement

Our High Scorers' Concerts will all take place across Malaysia from October - December 2017. There will be no concerts in January 2018.

Chosen performers for the concerts will be invited at the end of September.

Details on where to buy tickets will also be announced on this page at the end of September.

ABRSM High Scorers’ Concerts are special events that recognise the hard work and success of high scoring students from across different regions in the recent music exams.

The concerts provide a wonderful opportunity for students to share their achievements with family, friends, and wider audiences, gaining valuable performing experience in a supportive and celebratory setting.

Melaka High Scorers' Concert

2016 & 2017 concert review

From October 2016 to January 2017 we enjoyed 12 High Scorers’ Concerts across Malaysia. Over 400 performers took to the stage in these regional events, including a new concert in Ipoh for the state of Perak, which saw a fantastic response. The objective of our concerts is to give these young musicians a platform on which to celebrate and share their success, as well giving them valuable performing experience.

Concerts were held in Ipoh, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Bharu, Kuantan, Alor Setar, Penang, Kuching, Melaka, Kuala Lumpur (together with the Selangor concert), Johor Bahru and Seremban. There were a number of piano and violin performances in each concert, in addition to many singers and a wide range of other instruments: viola, cello, guitar, harp, flute, oboe, clarinet, jazz piano, jazz trumpet and saxophone.

Violin

The performers chosen achieved the highest mark for the instrument and grade in that particular region. All performers achieved distinctions, with many scoring over 140, and there were excellent performances across all the grades, with highlights including Ng Ling Cheng’s (Grade 1 Jazz Trumpet) smooth rendition of the popular jazz song Moonglow, and Mohd. Khalid Bin Reduan’s (Grade 8 Violin) expressive account of the final movement from Cesar Franck’s Sonata in A.

We wish to thank our various sponsors across the events, including Graceful Piano Sdn Bhd, Prince of Wales Island International School, and Nusajaya Lifestyle Sdn Bhd. Also, a big thanks to all the music schools and retailers who helped us to sell tickets and promote the concerts, as well as the helpers and stage hands who helped with the running of the events.

Saxophone

Congratulations again to all the performers and we wish you all the best in your future exams and musical endeavours. More information about our High Scorers’ Concerts from 2016-17 can be browsed through our concert brochure below.
